Only days after their Thor bust reveal, Sideshow’s offered another entry in their ‘realistic’ approach to Marvel with a Wolverine 1:1 bust.
The effect is working nicely on this piece though I think both busts would benefit from monotone nameplates (since they clearly must have them), as opposed to the same colorful ones that have accompanied nearly all of their Marvel busts.

In the footsteps of Sideshow and Legacy’s Iron Man MK VI comes this War Machine maquette. This bad boy’s $50 more than the old Stark, but that’s not unexpected. The two certainly make a striking pair– and I would much rather take these two and pocket a cool $1000 over the giant Mark III 1:2 maquette.
For consistency’s sake, there’s a nameplate exclusive just like there was for the MK VI maquette.

After a super-effect teaser that had everyone convinced for Daredevil, Wolverine or Deadpool, Sideshow came from the blindside to reveal a Nightcrawler comiquette.
Switch-out head and hand aplenty here, with the art print for the exclusive. Additionally, a Colossus comiquette is fleshed out in all its glory amongst one of the product pics.

An unusual departure from the usual depictions of a youthful flaxen haired Scandinavian dude who loves working out, Sideshow’s Thor life-size bust depicts a more weary, relatively aged god.
And ironically, Thor looks more like Kevin Mckidd here than he ever did before, now that we know he’s not assuming the role for the film.

Sideshow steps out of the Spidey-verse with their next Ariel Olivetti comiquette- the green Hulk.

It’s great to see that Hot Toys are not one to rest on their laurels as kings of 1/6 scale likeness. This is even more apparent when they revisit popular genre actors and actresses, like Ms. Scarlett Johansson, captured on this here Black Widow figure (Iron Man 2). It is a marked refinement over their previous work on the Silken Floss (The Spirit). Current king-of-genre Sam Worthington has gotten the repeat treatment for Terminator Salvation and Clash of the Titans, and may well complete a trifecta as Hot Toy also holds the Avatar license (silver lining: they never have to change his hair style).
And I really thought the hair was not so great (an understandable challenge– ‘real hair’ doesn’t even look great on Cinemaquettes), but after seeing the film, it’s surprisingly pretty faithful. Which is to say, Black Widow has weird looking doll hair for some reason– the least of Iron Man 2’s problems at any rate.

Sideshow’s latest entry in their Marvel diorama line: Thanos and Death. I do believe this is the first time Thanos has appeared in a Sideshow product, and it’s really long overdue. A Thanos comiquette was also teased several months ago. I am unsure myself if that same piece was cannibalized into this diorama. Although they look extremely same-ish, Thanos is nearly always going to be posed flashing his bling (i.e. Infinity Gauntlet).
The exclusive is a switch-out skull portrait for Death, costing $10 more at $360.

Many months after glimpsing the Psylocke Comiquette Prototype auctioned for the Diane fund, Sideshow has finally previewed the production piece. As evident in the preview image, this version is based on comic artist Mark Brooks’ vision; unclear if this was a key deviation from the proto, however there’s no denying the two versions are strikingly different.
[update] The exclusive version has sold out in under 10 minutes at $275. The regular version sans art print is $10 cheaper.

Seeing as how my cheeky mock-up of Chris Hemsworth as Thor using Sideshow’s LSB back when the news first broke inexplicably continues to send folks to this site via the googles and bings, and even prior to that– a mock-up with Kevin Mckidd, it’s only fitting to update with the conclusion of all this, what we’ll see on screens next year with Kenneth Branagh’s Thor.
Almost hilariously, people are already complaining about the armor (‘it looks too plasticky!’). From what can be seen I like it a lot. I expected as much that they would modernize it in order for it not to look completely ridiculous next to Iron Man and gang. It works.

A pair of Marvel items are up for pre-order this week from Sideshow, including the Carnage comiquette, the foil to their previous Venom piece, both based on Ariel Olivett’s art. As expected, the exclusive is again an art print (which looks improved from the Venom effort).
And then there’s premium format of the Black Panther. Of which I only know is some dude who dresses up in a leather and cape outfit to appear menacing in the jungles.
