Terminator T-700 Premium Format Prototype (auction)
A dark paint application test done on a T-800 PF, for a “stealth Terminator” in Terminator: Salvation.
Commander Cody Legendary Scale Bust Prototype (auction)
A prototype version with a myriad of differences, including a clear Palpatine hologram, higher hand position, and vastly different armor.
Jason Voorhees Premium Format Figure Prototype (auction)
Essentially an abandoned prototype which will never be released.
Psylocke Comiquette Prototype (auction)
My personal favorite, a Psylocke comiquette- a statue that looks good enough to release, but for some reason won’t be, not in this form. This is the only existing painted prototype.
Red Hulk Legendary Scale Bust Prototype (auction)
A Hulk LSB repainted to depict the crimson “Rulk”. It was ultimately decided Rulk looked too different than just a sunburnt version of Hulk, so this remains just that: an abandoned prototype.
All auctions scheduled to end on Aug 09, 2009.

The vampy blue Adam Hughes Mystique Comiquette has only just made her debut but it’s already being hailed among the best of the AH! comiquette line. Seasoned sculptor Tim Miller is at bat again and may have netted Sideshow another home-run. Alongside She-Hulk and Black Queen, the bevy of busty AH! ladies made a strong showing at this year’s Con.

Sideshow has a literal ton of Marvel stuff, past and in the pipeline, but the Venom Comiquette is something special. The Gore Group is behind this one, which gives any collectible a good head start. It bests their previous Venom statue, a film based version, which itself was very accomplished.
This “Comiquette” is based on the work of artist Ariel Olivetti, and is strikingly detailed, and as far as this display piece is concerned, wonderfully painted. It’s vile and vicious and raw, and a perfect depiction of the character. And the base is not neglected (with the Gore Group, it rarely is), which always earns points with me. Oftentimes, film based treatments can tend to overtake their comic counterparts (see: Iron Man)– not so in the case of Venom and his cinematic debut in the limp Spider-Man 3. This statue is an excellent example why.

Sideshow’s earlier glimpsed Venom comiquette finally makes its proper debut. This depiction of the slimy freak is based on the art of Argentine comic book artist Ariel Olivetti.

Hot Toys has put out the tease for apparently the only X-Men important enough to have his own movie: Wolverine. Sculpted by Kojun and painted by JC Hong, as per the norm, there are no massive surprises here– the figure looks great.

It’s been roughly 10 months since our last Market Watch for Sideshow’s Doctor Doom PF, and this pricey PF continues to be just that.
Three exclusives were sold in May, peaking at a staggering $1945. All told, the exclusive has increased in value 25% in the last 10 months.

| Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s got the biggest boobs of all? Ah yes, that wonderful world of Adam Hughes (AH!) where every member of the female persuasion test the mightiness of their bras at all times. It’s no wonder why the fanboys go gaga over his work. Sideshow’s smartly realized an entire line of statues- “Comiquettes”- devoted to Hughes’ renderings of these superwomen. Aside from bringing some nice eye candy to the statue world, it’s also the perfect example of how a singular strong artistic direction can works wonders in building a cohesive feel that collectors crave. |

But before we delve in, the title is a bit of a misnomer. Rather than chase the arbitrarily ill-defined and randomly subjective idea of ‘best’, we go for a much clearer criteria: Which Comiquette is most faithful to the control art?
#6 BLACK QUEEN

In addition to a tired, sleepy-eyed portrait that bears little resemblance to that seen in the control art, she’s also got strange looking hair. It’s not the only one of the line that deviates from its AH! counterpart, but it’s the most severe. To sculptor Tim Miller’s credit, most of these deficiencies might lie entirely upon the paint apps. Even the bodice, which is shown to be glossier in the art doesn’t look quite right. To Sideshow’s credit, this is the sole AH! comiquette that strays very far from target…. Things have changed since our last Market Watch for the elusive Sideshow Hulk Premium Format conducted nearly a year ago. You may have heard a thing or two about the words economy and meltdown, often in close proximity. People lost jobs. Banks failed. So as you’d expect, the value of this Marvel grail has gone……..up?
Oh yes. Since the last Market Watch conducted nearly a year ago, the Grey exclusive has seen a roughly 12% increase, while the regular edition has achieved an even more impresseve 30.1% gain.
