Oooh I deferred uni now as Im off to merry old England and Melbourne in a fortnight to do modelling. lol. Btw glad Boromir settled in nicely to your collection. I was a bit apprehensive about your impressions of him to be honest. And if I've missed it...get some pics up! Otherwise I'll have to see him in person. *ahem* as you were people. I really hope when Weta reveal all at Comic Con at lest one of the stats is from the new series. Can't wait to see what they're like, and thanks for the forewarning Aran! heh. |

I pray Weta chose sensible Edition Sizes for this line. That will be a deal breaker for its success.

Well, thats hardly a good reason to post some pic's, total opposite really.... since if I don't then you would just have to see him again in person, that way I could say I've had a world famous model over to visit Quote:

The Eye Of Frodo

I was kinda dissapointed when I heard they would be scenes, I was hoping for stand alone statues like lotr, like a statue of the Tardis, a dalek, the doctor...
I've only been really getting into it in this latest series, the stories every week just keep getting better. That Angels episode was just scary! And Martha is so much better than Rose. Rose didn't have a clue - Martha often knew what to do even before the Doctor! |

I've been reading in a Doctor Who forum and they seem to be thinking the same as you, multi-characters, background elements as part of a whole scene. I personally don't read it that way, I pretty much do expect it to be the same as the LOTR line. I mean think of the Galadriel one, that still 'captures a classic scene', you know where its from, even tho there is just her holding the water jug. Besides, at 6th scale, to include say the Doctor, a Dalek and some background element would just make them all huge items (think Stone Trolls) and rather expensive. Now I'm not saying they won't do a couple like that, but to get the line going, at a fair price point, I am much more expecting signle character staues just like most of the LOTR line. Either way, only a few more days to wait now, so I guess we will see who is right very soon PS, by that 'Angels episode', I assume you mean Blink, and yes that was a great episode, written by Steven Moffatt, who did The Girl in the Fireplace and The Empty Child / Doctor Dances storys from previous years. All of which are in many ways some of the best stories in Doctor Who history. |

Sorry mate - I'm really dying to tell you what they are, but I really can't.
I think you will like them though! Just a day or two to go? I'm looking forward to seeing the photos myself!

I'm thinking given time-zones it won't be till Friday morning my time till the weta site is updated. If they let ppl take pictures on the show floor, then I may be luckly and see some early images on Thursday night. Still, either way, by the end of the week the real question will be cost, edition size and shipping date

Well.... that answers a couple of questions.
Interesting that they went with the big hitters first, but I guess you have to jump 1 way or the other. I'm not so sure about the cyber controller, tho not being painted doesn't help. I'm totally torn over the Dalek, while I guess I was just expecting any Dalek to be 'normal', that all open one does look rather cool. The one thing that could make it totally amazing, would be if you could close it all back up, but I guess that could be a little tricky and greatly increase possible breaking points. Besides, means there is no reason that another Dalek one will be done later, all closed up and black. And now for the gussing of whats under the gold cloths. Looks like a single standing statue and the other with two characters. Given that they have David on the main poster, is it fair to expect that one of those 2 will be the tenth Doctor. Could even be the two character one, the Doctor and likely Martha. I'm a little worried tho, they tend to seem a little 'bigger' then I was expecting and hence likely over $250 AUD retail, will have to hope for some good discounts or something somewhere if I get all 4. |

You have to see the Dalek in person - the paintwork and level of detail in the sculpt are just phenomenal. When I saw it I thought exactly the same thing as you: make it so that you can close the doors and choose to display it either open or normal (closed). I'm pretty sure they are 1/6 scale, but I have no clue about the likely prices. Some of the Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and Kong pieces were pretty huge though and not that expensive, e.g. General Otmin.

yeah, being able to close the Dalek up really is the first thing you think of, but then I'm sure weta have considered it just the same and decided not to for very good reasons. Even so, its still very cool and as long as the full production run keeps the same level of paint quality it will be an amazing addition. So thats 1 sold for sure.
Tho at the same time, don't want the price to be too cheap and have a small edition size, otherwise one may have a hard time getting it and missing out would really suck |

Just so I get this in 'print', in case I'm right, I'm going to take a guess at whats under the cloth for the other statues.
Well, I'm going to guess one of them, based on that figures.com image. The one near the back and on the left, clearly shows 2 figures, since you can see what would be two heads under the cloth. Now based on what one can make out of the card in front of it and the 2 that we already know about, my guess is..... Classic series, Doctor and Romana. If so, that would make it the 4th Doctor, ie Tom Baker and I hope Romana 2, ie Lalla Ward. And really putting my neck on the chopping block, I'll guess the episode to be State of Decay. Feel free to PM me Arannz if I'm right |

I'm on a roll now. I am sure that it will be 2 new series and 2 classic series statues.
My guess on The Doctor and Romana above still stands, tho it could well be another companion, but I'm pretty sure it is The Doctor and I'd say 4th one is a good bet. As for the other statue, I'm 99% sure its The Master and Auton, from the story, Terror of the Autons, which was a 3rd Doctor story. All we need now is bloody pictures, man weta are taking their time. |

I really love the Darlek. And the fact its unique and from the specific S1 (new series) episode makes it even better. That was one of the greatest Doctor Who episodes.
