Gandalf in 'Harry Potter : Chamber of Secrets'

Just a quick fun fact for fans of both Harry Potter and LOTR .
In 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' ,
A painting of Gandalf the Grey from the Lord of the Rings series
can be seen in Professor Dumbledore's study.
It is near the door frame in the study.

Really, that's pretty cool (as is Gandalf).
Any reason as to why they did this?

I was trying to find pics of Hannah Wood (Elijah's sister)
as she appeared in LOTR , and happened across it on several websites .
Haven't found a screen capture yet .

I'm thinking it was a little nod to LOTR , and if I'm not mistaken ,
all of the paintings were of legendary wizards .

I did have a look, but in either of the two scenes, I didn't find it. Maybe one of the pictures may be Gandalf, but could be anyone...

Well, if they did do that then it was a nice tribute to LOTR.

THe portrait hanging behind Dumbledores desk. Probably is the headmaster himself - or could it be Gandalf (in purple robes)

I am thinking either the one pordey circled or the guy one portrait to our left of the one pordey circled. He looks to have grey robes on. Any of them packing heat? I mean swords?

The one with the side profile facing to the left does look like Gandalf, but it's hard to tell.

Here's what it says everywhere on the net.

"As Harry enters Prof. Dumbledore's study, a portrait of Gandalf the Grey is included in the collection of the great wizard paintings. It is above the doorframe and slightly to Harry's right."
