The mockumentary Forgotten Silver (about the lost NZ cinema pioneer Colin McKenzie) was first aired on Television New Zealand's channel TV ONE in a time slot usually dedicated to plays and mini-series, but was billed and introduced as a serious documentary. A large proportion of the TV audience were fooled until the directors (Peter Jackson & Costa Botes) shortly afterwards revealed that it was a hoax. |

I will spare you the enumeration of Peter Jackson's movies. And you may think you know know and maybe have seen every one of them. But have you ever heard of "crossing the line" in 2007. That was the title of a short movie (set in the WWI trenches) made at Weta in order to test the footage from brand new digital cameras prototypes (Red cameras). The firmware of these prototypes was in fact so early that only the RUN/STOP feature was enabled. It was directed by Peter Jackson with the assistance of Neill Blomkamp.
