Re: Doctor Whoooooooo

I'm greatly looking forward to see what Moffat will accomplish. I agree that he's written some of the best episodes. The very first episode of Doctor Who that I managed to catch was 'Silence in the library' and that got me hooked enough to watch all the new series.

RTD's stories, while good, lack the creativity and depth of Moffat's stuff.

Can't wait!

I dunno, he pulled off a few crackers. (PLEASE don't put that in the funny quotes thread! ) His series-long story arcs were fun to pick up on, all the hidden clues leading upto the final episode, and the last 3 episodes of series 3 with The Master were probably my favourite episodes...

Re: Doctor Whoooooooo

Blink freaked me out. The my other favorite episodes are almost only Moffat's:
Girl in the fireplace
The empty boy
Blink
Silence in the Library prt 1 +2
non-Moffat's are
Tooth and Claw
Doomsday
The Impossible Planet (prt 1 only)

Although Tennat did a good job in "The End of Time", I thought the two episodes themselves where pretty average. Out of the specials last year I liked Waters of Mars the best, most definitivly. Lady Christina was cool though.

I wasn't too sure about Matt Smith either, but as you, I'm cautional optimistic after seeing his short minute of screentime. Season 5, we're waiting for you.

Yeah, admittedly the little clues dropped all over the series were very impressive. The episodes with the Master are great!

I agree, the 'End of Time' episodes had a pretty average story, and a lot of it was just the Doctor saying goodbye to all his companions. But I guess that was the point..

The Waters of Mars freaked me out.

I really like 'The Next Doctor'.

In many ways, that's what annoyed me most. The Doctor pretty much didn't even need to be there. The Master made the world a mess, he then brought the Time Lords to Earth. The Time Lords then undid what the Master did to humanity (tho why I have no idea, since they were then just going to whip out the whole planet anyway. Hey, why not pick on a planet with no life on it...), then the Master took out the Time Lords and disappeared.

What did the Doctor do, he put a bullet in some cosmic radio beacon, ANYONE could have done that.

As for Waters of Mars, I'm sorry, after Blink and the empty child, a few ppl springing a leak just didn't do it for me. As for the story, the Doctor spends most of the time, making sure he didn't change the time line, Adelaide spends most of the time, begging the Doctor to save them. Finally the Doctor does save them and all Adelaide can do is put a gun to her head, because she now doesn't want to be saved.
Why waste 50mins, if Adelaide had just shot herself to start with, the final result would have been the same.

OK, that's enough from me, I told you all not to get me started

Re: Doctor Whoooooooo

I know about those things, and they kind of frustrated me at the moment. But it still better than The Dead Planet and The Next Doctor. Especially the Next Doctor, which were boring

Some nice moments in The Next Doctor, but yeah.....
The Dead Planet was mostly OK, but that was more due to Michelle Ryan then anything else

Am I an anomaly here in liking 'The Next Doctor'? I thought it was intriguing.

I didn't like 'Planet of the Dead' much. It was pretty average.

Re: Doctor Whoooooooo

I don't get how anyone could find "The Next Doctor" boring, Stig, you lunatic. I mean, you've got Cybermen, a gorgeous, dominant woman in a red dress, and a giant robot marching on a Godzilla-style rampage through Victorian London.

And a hot-air balloon, yes, let's not forget that.

And did I mention the giant robot?

I think my top 3 episodes are blink, the one where the demon repeats everything he says then 'takes him over' (series 4) and probably the final episode of season one. look into that time vortex baby!

So that would be Blink, Midnight and The Parting of the Ways....

And yes, if ever there was a time to purchase the Dalek statue, it's now..... about time this one sold out I say.
