Sounds like a stone hound back in the day of new SSW pieces.

Perhaps it would have been wiser for Weta to offer these pieces in the $300-$350 range, esp. since they launched this line right in the middle of a major recession. As for the economy recovering, you are alot more optimistic than I am. With the US government spending money [it doesn't have] like it's going out of style you are far closer to a total economic collapse than you are an economic recovery.
I'm optimistic. We'll bounce back. It's the American way.

As much as I prefer to own this piece in real bronze, I can settle for the faux bronze version that will follow. I'd love to display this piece under the actual Howe print.

This is why I bought both the FB and B editions of Smaug. I figure if the end is near then the debt doesn't matter. If the end is not near then we are currently living in a wonderful time of deflationary pressure and it is a good time to buy. If inflation roars back with a vengeance due to government overspending then the debt I acumulate now will be easier to pay back in future inflated dollars.

I too am very worried that the rest of this line will not see the light of day. The Eowyn and Nazgul to me should have been announced later in time perhaps. I think Gandalf is a good bet since this does have a Hobbit tie-in.

Time will tell. I am a bit surprised the Eowyn and Nazgul statue has not been made available for pre-order yet. I wonder if it would have been if Smaug was sold out? Or perhaps Weta intends on producing only a few of these each year and therefore want to stretch things out a bit.

Re: My most wanted John Howe Bronze/FB

Hi everyone

Eowyn and the Nazgul is coming soon ... and will be on display at Armageddon Convention in Auckland this weekend

And more to come in The Art of John Howe range ...

In order to prevent any misperceptions, Smaug is selling very well, and we are very pleased with the response to date (It has proven especially popular with artists and celebrities visiting Weta)

Cheers

Tim

Re: My most wanted John Howe Bronze/FB

Got an email from John Howe yesterday confirming that as well. I didn't want to post it here because I wasn't sure I was supposed to.

Hi Ed,

I do have some good news on the statue front, the Smaug us already out in a resin edition, and the Eowyn & the Nazgul will follow soon.

[edited for content]

Best wishes,

John

There was some other stuff in that email he hinted at, but I won't disclose it here.

But what's the quickest way to ruin businesses and spiral into a depression? NOT spending any money.
Anyhoo let's try and keep the political side of things out of this lovely forum.....
