That’s a really interesting list, especially as it pertains to how far apart you’ve put the SSW GTG statue and bust. To me they look very similar– for obvious reasons!
Weta I love the emotion of GOSF and the Gandy the White Bust still :rock
I’d say SS/W has done the best , collectively .
The Gandalf the White bust is by far the best likeness by any company , IMO .
It stands appart as the definitive Gandalf likeness thus far , for me .
Not sure which I’d choose as second runner-up .
Gandalf the white bust is in its own league…simply amazing! I also think the Gandalf the grey bust is awesome…I give the piss poor award to gandalf the white statue…that just looks bad, IMO. The sideshow 12″ gandalf is noteworthy.
I chose Weta, because of the picture on the top right – it looks like a photo of Ian McKellan as Gandalf – which is a good sign, I think!
But then, I’m merely voting between these pictures I don’t know the actual pieces.
Mr Song… I’ve never seen the SSW GTG bust in person, but judging from the of official pic, it doesn’t look very spectacular. Something in the eyer-chin-nose area that bugs me
The SSW GTG statue is still the ‘classic’ Gandalf pose/look and I think weta pretty much nailed it.
If I had a chance (plus the space and money), then I’d also get GOSF, to me, between the 2 of those, I don’t think you really need anything else.
I’m going with the SS/W bust. Lindsey likes that one too, but, oddly enough, says that the Sideshow PF ranks up there with it. Judging only by the photos shown, I’m inclined to agree.
GTG bust does it for me
As with the general consensus here, Weta really take the cake. The GtW Bust is flawless, along with several other Gandalf pieces that look spot on. I feel that Sideshow and GG, while they’ve done some nice pieces, have never really captured McKellen like Weta did.
Sideshow comes in a close 2nd with 3 votes! =D
