Legolas, What Do Your Elf Eyes See?
Posted by Charles Song in Sideshow Collectibles, tags: busts, LOTR“Lots of people making fun of me!”
Sideshow came bearing chocolates/flowers with the reveal of the Legolas Legendary Scale bust, only to find heartaches on this Valentine’s. Praise from last week’s teaser proved premature, turning to bitter and vocal lambasting, with most complaints centering on the poor elf’s eyes. Where is the love?

Our take: While not the home run many had pegged it for, there are still some appealing qualities. Interesting composition. Strong from the side view. But why the $50 (30%) price hike from Gandalf?

Well this is dissapointing isnt it. What a change from the proto. I mean its by no means aweful, but its just not great.
The price hike is very curious too…
Yea, the preview looked so good and then boom! The piece isn’t bad…but the eyes and brow area are off, way off. The pose and accessories are really cool, but not worth that price jump, IMO.
Nothing wrong with this bust that a small paint intervention can’t fix.
But the price hike and the ingrained anti-lazy-eye reflex in most of us proved a bit too much in this case…
They say that the eyes are the gateway to the soul ………………… Leggy’s soul isn’t looking very pristine at the moment.
One silver lining, you can’t observe crossed eyes if you can see only one eye at the time. It’s a shame to have to do it, but it may look pretty good by positioning the piece so that only one eye is seen from the viewing area.
Or, Make sure you look at the piece only if you have one eye closed.
This bust looks great in the backstage video posted at sideshow…almost looks perfect from one angle. I’m thinking SS will correct the eye problem and this will be a fantastic piece of poly in the end.
I like my Legolas from a profilic view, no full frontal for me.
the left eye goes pretty out of sight
